University Human Resources is excited to share updates regarding our ongoing efforts to enhance leadership development across Auburn University.

During our analysis of over 1,600 comments for performance development improvements, it became clear Auburn University employees desire leadership development opportunities.

From October to December 2023, a Leader Development Advisory Group (LDAG) was formed with seasoned senior leaders (Deans and Vice Presidents) from various colleges and divisions to address campus needs, develop a comprehensive leader development framework, and identify AU supervisor leadership principles. The leader development framework consists of the following six core initiatives:

  1. Professional development opportunities

  2. A mentorship program for each College/Department

  3. Performance development

  4. Leading levels curriculum

  5. Initial supervisor training

  6. Quarterly new supervisor orientation

An LDAG has been formed to operationalize and implement the group's framework. Their first responsibility is to design, plan, and implement the AU Initial Supervisor Leader Development day planned for August 2024. This training will be for all university supervisors up to the Director level with a goal to articulate leadership expectations as Auburn pursues a culture of leadership excellence.

These initiatives underscore our commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement as well as investing in the growth and success of our university supervisors and employees.

As we embark on this transformative journey together, we encourage you to bookmark this page and stay abreast of updates as we work towards building a more empowered and effective leadership community at Auburn.
